M2A1 Project: Evaluating and Critiquing a Speech: Speech Evaluaton 1
Part of learning how to speak in public is learning how to give and receive feedback. Feedback is valuable in that it provides the speaker with information on what he or she is doing well and where improvements can be made. Evaluating a speech is equally important in public speaking. In essence, it is an art form. In this writing activity, you will learn how to give and receive feedback as well as how to evaluate a speech.
Begin by first reading the article, Rules of Constructive Feedback. Then, I’d like you to go to the website, American Rhetoric and find a speech that is of interest to you. Using the Peer Feedback Form, view and evaluate the speech.
Next, based on the information from the Rules of Constructive Feedback article and the Peer Feedback Form, you are to write a critique on the speech you chose. Address the following in your critique:
Introduce the topic of the speech and explain why you chose this particular speech.
Describe the speaker’s delivery. What was effective and what was ineffective.
Describe the speech’s construction. Critique the introduction, conclusion, main points, and organizational pattern.
Identify what the speaker did well and why.
Identify what you think the speaker could improve upon and why.
Explain what you learned about speech making from watching this speech and what you could use from what you have learned in your own speech making.
Your essay should be between 250-300 words and must include an introductory paragraph, direct answers with evidence in the body, and a concluding paragraph. Please submit your completed Peer Feedback Form along with your essay.
Before you submit this assignment to the dropbox below, be sure to upload a copy to the “Final” dropbox for this assignment on Turnitin.com. A “Draft” dropbox is also available so that you can use the originality report provided as a learning tool to improve your work prior to final submission.
This is part of your evaluation grade, which is 30% of your overall grade and will be graded using the SLA Non-Research Written Assignment Rubric [240.3 KB PDF file].

Order Details;:Planet Earth’s surface is over 70% water, but less than 1% of the water on Earth is considered accessible, usable freshwater for sustaining humans’ and other organisms’ lives. Of the accessible freshwater, approximately 99% is located in aquifers, natural underground water chambers, and other groundwater sources. Unfortunately, humans are depleting the aquifers faster than they can be recharged by the hydrological cycle. Therefore, three quarters of groundwater is considered nonrenewable. The main reason we using groundwater resources mainly for drinking and irrigation. As a result, this not only decreases an important source of freshwater—it also can cause pollution of that groundwater by saltwater intrusion. The recharge rate of groundwater is further hindered by land clearing and deforestation caused by human development. When land is cleared for human development, more flooding occurs, the(the amount of water that evaporates into the atmosphere from plants) is reduced, and rainwater is inhibited from adequately(penetrating the soil) into the ground to allow for aquifers and groundwater to be recharged.:(Wright & Boorse, 2010)Forty percent of the world’s food is produced via irrigation. As a result, if the current rate of groundwater usage continues, food production could be drastically reduced worldwide. This reduction in food supply would be detrimental in sustaining the projected worldwide human population of over 10 billion within the next 50 years.Use the Hydrologic Cycle Figure below to understand the impact of industrialization and human development on ground water over 3 centuries.(Wright & Boorse, 2010)::Wright, R. Lecture Notes for Week 2
Order Details; This unit explains the importance of internal communication, and it analyzes the writing process as it applies to e-mail messages and memos. Because e-mail has become a significant communication channel, the unit devotes considerable attention to using e-mails safely and effectively. Read the chapter carefully; there are many important points to follow when composing an e-mail or memo. In the “Lecture Notes” I have included some additional points about memos. I did not restate everything from the chapter. The text explains the information in a very detailed fashion. If you need anything clarified or explained further, please e-mail me.E-mail is increasingly important because it is fast, easy, and cheap. As organizations downsize, flatten chains of command, form work teams, and empower rank-and-file workers, more and more information is exchanged in e-mails and memos.E-mail is used by 80 percent of all U.S. workers. The average office worker now receives between 60 and 200 messages a day and spends a quarter of the workday on e-mail. Some spend half of every day writing and answering e-mail. It is estimated that more than 7 trillion e-mails circulated worldwide last year (Communication Briefings, November 2005, 7). The importance of e-mail continues to grow.Memos and e-mail messages are:Regardless of where you work, your employer will expect your memos to be timely, professional, and tactful. Just because a memo is an informal in-house communication does not mean you can be rude, curt, or bossy. Most companies have their own memo protocol to follow. As you learned in Chapter 2, memos are an appropriate communication channel choice when you need a written record to explain policies clearly, to discuss procedures, or to collect information within an organization.:Memos vary in format. Some companies use standard, printed forms, while others have their names printed on their memos.Basically, the memo consists of two parts:The identifying information includes:TOFROMSUBJECTDATEMost business writers know the busy reader seldom reads every word of a message on their first pass. Instead the reader typically skims a message, reading only certain sections carefully to assess the value of the document. If the reader determines that the document contains valuable information or requires a response, he/she will read it more carefully when time permits. As a writer, you can adopt a number of techniques to make your message easier to skim read:Ex. The directors voted to (no punctuation)*cut salary*close cafeteria*reduce travelIf you have a complete sentence before the list, use a colon. As the Internet enters its second decade, employees and executives continue to send off careless e-mails, which later get them fired or sent to jail. Harry Stonecipher, CEO of the giant aircraft company Boeing, lost his job because of alleged explicit romantic e-mails sent to a colleague. In fact, one in five companies has fired an employee for e-mail abuse. President George Bush and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice are said to have given up using e-mail because of its dangers.Like memos, e-mail messages also have a heading. The particulars of the heading depend on the e-mail program you use, but most include TO, FROM, and SUBJECT.The heading information is brief; the TO and FROM lines sometimes show no names or titles, just e-mail addresses. The date is automatically inserted into the document by the e-mail program. For e-mail messages, a salutation is optional, but is recommended. After the salutation comes the message (single-spaced), followed by the complimentary close and the typed name of the sender.Because the information in the header is often extremely brief, you may want to include contact information after your name, especially if the e-mail is going outside the company.E-mail has a reputation for speed and informality. Nevertheless, you’ll want to write your e-mail messages carefully.Appearance, organization, and style are just as important for e-mail messages as for any other type of business message.(a) To capture your audience’s attention, make your subject line informative.(b) If you are exchanging multiple e-mails with someone on the same topic, be sure to periodically modify the subject line of your message.Delete very old messages.(a) Avoid lines that run off the screen.(b) Write short, focused, logically organized paragraphs.(a) Adding a salutation to your e-mail message makes it more personal.(b) In most cases, use simple closing, such as /Thanks/ or /Regards/.(c) For your signature, you can simply type your name on a separate line.Or you may want to use a signature file, a shorter identifier that can include your name, company, postal address, fax number, etc.(d) You can also use a digital copy of your handwritten signature, which is becoming acceptable as legal proof in business transactions.(a) The best business communicators know how to communicate quickly and courteously. They know how to refrain from putting into writing anything that could come back to haunt them.(b) Following basic e-mail etiquette means being courteous, brief, and careful.Be Courteous — Common courtesy is an important consideration when sending e-mail. Send only necessary messages. Before clicking on /Send/, double-check your addresses to make sure you’ve included everyone necessary and no one else. Don’t send jokes or chain letters.Be Brief — Cover only what is necessary. Narrow your scope. Stick to one purpose. If you find yourself with two or three purposes, write separate e-mails.Be Careful — E-mail’s speed is its greatest benefit and can also be its greatest drawback. Reread your message before sending it.Companies are increasingly monitoring and storing e-mail messages. Why? Because they must comply with new legislation, such as the financial disclosure regulations in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Companies must retain more e-mail, instant messages, blog postings, and other data.In addition, as they begin using Internet telephony, they may even have to monitor records of Net-based phone talk, because it produces a digital record. How do companies monitor electronic communication? Using natural-language software, they sift through e-mails and IMs in milliseconds, checking for bad language, pornography, pirated music files, or trade secrets.:

9 EXERCISE 3. ANALYSIS OF THE INHERITANCE OF EYE COLOR IN DROSOPHILA
Order Details;9 EXERCISE 3. ANALYSIS OF THE INHERITANCE OF EYE COLOR IN DROSOPHILA In this multi-week experiment you will determine the inheritance pattern of an eye color mutant by performing and analyzing a series of crosses for eye color phenotype and presence of different pigments. Think about how this type of analysis compares with pedigree analysis for determining inheritance patterns. Although you will be working with a group to generate data, you will analyze your results and write up the first of two individual formal lab reports according to the guidelines at the beginning of this manual. The second formal lab report will be required for Ex. 8, UV Mutagenesis. Caveats: • The number of eye color phenotypes may be larger than the number you expect. Be observant! Failure to record the phenotypes correctly may make your data uninterpretable. • There is more than one way to set up this experiment. Work toward a conclusion that is consistent with your results. Do not be surprised if someone else’s (or an old lab report’s) results are vastly different from yours. Keep a careful record of your stocks and of your results. • Detailed record keeping is critical throughout this experiment; be sure to write everything down in your lab notebook. Week 1: Parental (P1) Cross Your lab group will have two initial stocks: one for females and one for males. To start this experiment, you will collect virgin females from the “for female” stock culture, and males from the “for male” stock. You will set up at least three vials, each with a male and a female, as indicated by your instructor. These are your parental (P1) crosses. Carefully record the phenotype and gender of the individuals that make up your parental cross and also be sure to note the mutant designation for each one, as indicated by your instructor. Week 2: Culture Maintenance Check cultures: transfer or rehydrate if necessary, remove parents, record observations and procedures. Week 3: F1 Analysis and Cross Record the results of the P1 cross: numbers of F1 flies of each eye color phenotype and gender combination. After consulting with your instructor, set up at least 3 vials of duplicate F1 crosses. Again, record the phenotype of each parent in the F1 cross. Week 4: Culture Maintenance Check cultures: transfer or rehydrate if necessary, remove parents, record observations and procedures. Week 5: F2 Analysis A. Analyze the F2 offspring for eye color and sex. Record all observations.:

Record all observations.:
. M2A1 Project: Evaluating and Critiquing

MGT 309 – Case Analysis Guidelines and Rubric
Order Details;MGT 309 – Case Analysis Guidelines and Rubric This course contains five Case Analysis assignments. You should begin working on these early. It is very important to focus on continuous improvement throughout the course. Failure to make corrections based on the instructor’s feedback for each case analysis will result is a significantly lower score in subsequent case. Therefore, based on the instructor’s feedback on each case, you are expected to exhibit continuous improvement in each of the following cases. There are basic rules about a case analysis to follow. First, do not submit them in question and answer format which is not appropriate for case analyses. Your case analyses must be composed in essay format and adhere to the following APA style and formatting guidelines, which will help ensure a solid grade on your first case analysis. 1. Include a title page containing case name, course identification, date, your name, and your instructor’s name. 2. An abstract is not necessary in a short case analysis. 3. Write your case analysis in essay style with a tabbed first line in each paragraph. Make sure to address each case question thoroughly. You are suggested to commit a minimum of one paragraph to answer each question, two if necessary. 4. The content of your analysis must be at least 1,000 words. This does not include the title page, main document, and sources in the Reference section. 5. The case analysis must include at least three heading sections such as Introduction or Background, Current Issues or Issues Addressed, and Conclusion or Recommendations. The names of the headings are at your discretion but must help the reader better understand your analysis. 6. The document must be double-spaced, the font must be in Arial, Courier, or Times New Roman, and the font size must be 12-point. There should be no extra white space anywhere in your document which includes line breaks and/or page breaks. The document must have one inch margins all around. 7. Include a References section with your sources. Do not use the terms Bibliography or Works Cited. 8. Include and cite at least three scholarly sources for each case, and list these in the References section. There must also be at least five citations throughout your document with at least one being a “direct quote.” The aforementioned items must be followed in all assigned cases. Not adhering to these guidelines will result in deductions from your overall score. Hence, all of the aforementioned factors are used in grading your cases. Additionally, the rubric on the following page will be used to grade your case analysis. You are strongly recommended to print this document for reference. Submit the assigned Case Analysis to the Dropbox no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT of the module in which it is due. (Each Dropbox basket is linked to Turnitin.) Keep a careful record of your stocks and of your results.
