Problem Solving Paper Part 2

Problem Solving Paper Part 2

Solving the problem concerning the death of my cousin requires that I conduct a research geared towards addressing the problem. As such, the research will be aimed at understanding the cause of the problem, its dynamics and the appropriate responses and findings fundamental to solving this problem. I would, therefore, conduct a qualitative research, in order to investigate the why and how dynamics of decision-making (Crabtree & Miller, 2000). In order to achieve this, I would refine my research with a strict adherence to qualitative research methods characteristics.

Effective problem solving requires thoughtful problem identification through a systematic examination of the problem. I would, therefore, achieve this by gathering, analyzing significant aspects and information related to the problem, test it, and evaluate the result to get a solution. Efforts towards solving this problem can best be achieved through reviewing what other authors have written concerning the problem (Stake, 2010). With this, therefore, I will have a clear insight with regard to the best means of approaching the research. As such, using relevant literature will be one of the sources of information required or necessary for solving the problem and guide the research process.

Apart from relevant literature, the research will also consider designing of questions aimed at finding a solution to the problem, which will be administered to persons who have undergone similar circumstances. With the administering of questions, I will be in a position to gather required information that addresses the problem, considering that these individuals have solutions at first hand. Working out the details of the information requires an effective analysis of the data that I will have collected (Stake, 2010). Analyzing data from such a qualitative research consists of uncovering what the respondents think about the problem in terms of what they say and react to the problem (Stake, 2010). Making sense out of this data requires consolidation and interpretation of what the respondents say, together with what other researchers and various literatures affirm, with regard to the problem. As such, through the combination of these kinds of information, I will be in a position to analyze and consequently solve my problem.

Refining of the solution requires that I make my decision based on research findings to make it rational and valid (Crabtree & Miller, 2000). Though part of my feelings may contribute to the solution that I arrive at, the feelings should not prevail over the scientific findings in order to avoid being criticized by other people. The solution should also be reasonable and in line with morality and ethics of the society. Deciding the action that I will take following the research will be entirely dependent on the findings.

Recognizing and overcoming arising difficulties will be enabled by first appreciating and recognizing that information sourcing from individuals may be intrusive to them. As such, they may withhold some information crucial in finding the best solution to the problem. This difficulty can be done with by assuring the informants of confidentiality, and that the research is for the overall good of the society. The whole process of overcoming difficulties in this research is enabled by appreciating the data, the research process, and the expected outcomes as they are (Stake, 2010). This can be achieved by avoiding any preconceived notions, and analyzing the data in a manner that suits our convenience. This would further be enhanced by strictly following of the scientific research method and analysis, to realize valid and credible solutions.
