Discussion: Layers of the Earth
You have now seen the layers inside the Earth. Although it is not physically possible to visit them, which would be the most exciting place to visit?
- Pick the layer you find most interesting. Describe the appearance of the layer and how thick it is. Then explain why it is especially interesting to you.

I find the inner core the most interesting. I can’t imagine what 10,800°F must feel like! This is the deepest layer of Earth, and is it about 1,200 kilometers thick. High pressure keeps this layer more of a solid. I think this layer is the most interesting layer because it is composed of two of my favorite metals, iron and nickel.
