The coastal area and keys of Florida are always threatened by tropical cyclones. Tropical cyclones include tropical storms and hurricanes. The fact that there is only one way out and in of the key, this poses as an aspect that is very bad. These keys are seen as vulnerable because of this aspect. The evacuation of the keys can take up to two days. This is an aspect that makes it possible for the officials to communicate it earlier. A hurricane is defined as a system of thunderstorms and showers with a circulation center having winds with a maximum of 74mph (Havrilesky, 2010).

A hurricane of category four is described as one which is extreme. This hurricane is said to cause a lot of harm including destroying homes and roads. In case of such a hurricane, the local authorities should ensure that they have evacuated all people to ensure that they are not affected. The resources that are called upon the federal are finances after the occurrence of a hurricane. This makes it possible for people to rebuild their homes after their devastation by the hurricane. The other resources needed are so that people can be able to evacuate as quick as possible. The place where they are supposed to leave is also necessary that the federal and state provide to the people. Resources required at the local level are unity. This is because these people need to work together to ensure they build their homes and repair all what was damaged. Calling of federal aid is necessary when extensive damage is done. This entails the government providing shelter, and food to those who are severely hurt (Schmidt, 2008).

There are various steps that should be undertaken as a way of handling an earthquake occurrence. The first aspect is to evacuate all people who are near big houses and roads. These are currently the most hit places. The use of technological machines would help access the most hit areas. The weather and geographical experts should access the occurrence of the earthquake and ensure that measures to evacuate people are undertaken. Special help is needed in terms where people are trapped in buildings. The use of special machines is necessary to help remove the heavy debris. Emergency experts should also look for extraordinary aspects like a stick or pipe or an object that is making movement inside the trapped debris. This is an indicator that there is somebody trapped. The other aspect is to ensure that people help unravel this debris to find trapped body. The experts also need to do an emergency roll call to know the people they are to find (Havrilesky, 2010).

There are ways and need for implementations of processes that will help reduce the occurrence or the preparedness of calamities like Katrina and terrorism activities. This can be done through the implementation, transformation and strengthening of plans, doctrines, policies, authorities, resources, and operational concepts. The other aspect is to use the activities of insects as a measure of understanding the change in climate and weather. The other aspect is to ensure that communication and technology are very high. This will make it possible to communicate even after a disaster has happened. The preparedness of one disaster makes it possible to cope with another that will happen. The department that would be suited to help this aspect is the one of homeland security (Schmidt, 2008).

The preparedness of a country towards aspects like terrorism and natural calamities is a very important aspect. This is an aspect that makes it possible for the country to protect its people from such incidences. A country needs have its policies and plans well implemented to help ensure that they face any calamity that occurs. A country should also ensure that it has a department that is utterly involved with disaster management.
