Procedures and Routines
There are various procedures and routines depending on the school. This is because different schools have different administration. During the first day in school, students are introduced to the calendar of that semester. They are then advised to handle in their assignments to the respective departments. The school calendar mostly entails the days for sitting for an exam and other important functions that are to be held in the school.
A tutor should be capable of establishing with steps that will contribute in realizing classroom inspiration. The teacher must trust that he can deliver motivation for scholars in the lecture hall. For this to materialize, the tutor should trust that scholars desire to learn reading assistances. The tutor must establish a setting that will create a pertinent learning process that engages the activities of the scholars (Ackerman, 2007). This could merely transpire when the teacher comprehends that scholars are persons who are inspired by similar aspects that prompt adults. The tutor serves an authoritative purpose in the direction of a classroom setting. The minor roles may not be required for effective classroom organization, but they back scholars to continue in with classroom activities. This would prompt students to devote to education and defend it because they will have the zeal to put in much effort.
The most significant skill a child learns from school is reading. For a student to excel in her education, reading is very important. Reading helps one understand the content of any discipline. Teachers treat differently people who are proficient in reading from those who are not. They have a lot of effects on the learning of a student. Readings skills taught by secondary school teachers are crucial to the success of students reading. Teachers should treat the reading skills of their students with positive attitude so that they foster encouragement among students. This arises from the fact that students take after their teachers.
Reading skills in class largely depend on the ability of teachers to maintain classroom order. If a teacher is unable to keep order in class, then learning is disrupted and students fail to grasp the necessities of reading skills. Teachers have many ways of keeping order in class. The various methods of maintining order are based on various models. They include control and knowledge model, inducement model, give up model, classroom community model, and much more. Another important factor considered when looking for best ways of effecting readindg skills is the climate of the classsroom. Climates that maintain fun, focus, and safety for students are the best for efficient reading skills.
Transition
Rewards for teaching reading skills have significant roles that students need to know. Rewards and awards as a topic requires careful attention becasue of its importance. Some teachers offer student candy so that they can develop good relationship with them, and hence get the most out of their teachings. However, this is not the best practice for making students behave properly. Candies do not make students do their best. They serve to temporarily give students a sense of love from the teacher. Once candies are over, students return to their normal improper behaviors. There are certin things done by teachers which make students perform well and even to their best in class. These things includes teachers recognizing positive bahavioral changes in students and rewarding them accordingly. Best rewards are commonly in form of praises. Teachers should foster class unity by making students read in unison while sitted on the floor. This implies that books must be availed in classroom for each student so that they get used when reading together loudly.
Active strategies of learning
The above strategies are used in replacement of teacher-centered approch to lerning by studen-centered approach. Lecturing is minimized in this case. Six ways of implementing this exist.
Short lecture notes and lesson tasks
Most formal teachings involve teachers dictating notes and students copying them accordingly. Studies show that short lecture notes work better than long lecture notes in imperting knowledge. This is because short notes are concise and to the point. Short notes means a lot of time is available for students to seek clarifications and ask more questions that improve their understanding.
Peer teaching
This is a very important method that encourages active learning. It makes students retain a lot of content in their heads on topics given to them for presentation. This approach sharpen communication skills for students apart from encouraging active learning. It does not only include teaching specific groups but also involve teaching the whole class. The approach has helped many teachers in making sure that students learn certain topicss that are complex and need further research. Students compare notes and share learning materials which making learning easy.
Cooperative learning groups
This involves putting students into groups so that certain goals and objectives of education get achieved. Unity is stregth. When students combine effort, it is easier for them to crack down problems that cannot be solved by persons on their own. What makes groups work well is because failure of a sinle member translates to group inefficiency. Therefore groups work towards uplifting the levels of every member. Each member is usually assigned a topic to research on. This makes every member active when looking for information about their topic. Groups comprise of studenst with different viewpoints on various disciplines. This make knowledge in the goup profuse. Debates on particular topics make students understand certain aspects better.
Games
Games are very important to students. Teachers usually involve materials that bring fun to students. These materials are usually collected from the internet or other scholarly sources and get integrated into the curriculum. Classroom jeopardy are normally used by teachers which are similar to those on television. The teacher answers questions that students provides. Students must ask questions.
Problem Statement There is a development of electronics in classroom for the past few years. Students used to carry heavy books and laptops in the classroom, which was disadvantageous to the size of unit (Jones & Jones, 2013). The introduction of netbooks facilitated similar functions with smaller and lighter materials. Tablets are used as household products thus; most people are using them for studying and taking notes. Teachers are using tablets as multimedia content to facilitate learning process. The use of smart tablets in class is beneficial to students because they are helpful in lectures, allow faster information retrieval, and are environmentally friendly.
Tablets are fast as students’ use less time in searching information compared to other learning materials. Students get the information about a topic by use of tablets thus saving a lot of time. Tablets have a large screen that provides enough space for taking many notes (Lalani, & Rodrigues, 2012). Large screens on tablets provide students with visual ways of learning. Many apps instill drawing and writing skills for young children. Tablets have a visual nature device that makes learning easier for students. This is because most subjects become easy to learn for students as they see what they are taught. Students learn current activities that are going on globally by use of tablets.
Tablets are multipurpose as they combine the ability to solve mathematical problems and learn literature easier. They assist students to solve complex mathematical problems that were a burden. Various mathematical applications assist students in solving and understanding equations. There are unique features in tablets that facilitate teaching and learning process. The motion sensor in tablets provides students with an opportunity of using their hands for instructing the tablet to conduct equilibrium and balance skills (Lalani, & Rodrigues, 2012). The clinometer assists students to measure wall levels, surfaces and determine precise angles that incline and decline. Physics students can measure accelerations and change in force by using tablets. Tablets are used in aerobic classes to measure exertion levels, balance and repetition.
Conclusion
The perception of teachers is very crucial when dealing with any proficient reader. This is because teachers have greater impact on learning than any other person. The effectiveness of teaching reading skills in a class rely on the order maintenance ability by teachers. Teachers must innovate ways that motivate students through learnong. Rewards and awards play a very crucial role that teachers need to integrate them into their teaching methods for best results.
