Do unto others as you would have them do to you
The notion of “Do unto others as you would have them do to you” (Luke 6:31, Good News Version) provides an ethical basis for people as articulated in the Bible and interpreted over time. The philosophy follows that everyone should do good things to others if they expect the same treatment. In my nursing experience, I have encountered numerous occasions where this rule is applicable. In one case, I took care of a patient who was terminally ill with breast cancer, and being assigned to the patient, I would gladly help her to move around when need arose. Even though, it was not a requirement that I had to be on her sides in the afternoon position I made it a habit to pop in and see how her general wellbeing. The Golden rule is a guiding principle that is applicable among medical professionals (Walter, 2009)
Being busy did not stop me from performing my duty…
