How to decode DNA sequences? Must use the codon chart..

During the process of transcription, DNA is unwound into a single strand exposing bases adenosine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G), and cytosine (C). These bases are complimentary, A pairs with T and C pairs with G. As the process of transcription occurs a single strand of mRNA is made. In RNA the thymine base is replaced with uracil (U). The mRNA forms groups of three bases called codons. The tRNA matches the mRNA codon to its anticodon that has the protein attached.

Decode the following DNA sequences into a chain of proteins using the codon chart that is included.

DNA Triplet RNA Codon  Amino Acid

TAC  AUG  Start – Methionine

ATC  UAG  Stop

AAA  UUU  Phenylalanine

AGG  UCC  Serine

ACA  UGU  Cysteine

GGG  CCC  Proline

GAA  CUU  Leucine

GCT  CGA  Arginine

TTT  AAA  Lysine

TGC  ACG  Threonine

CCG  GGC  Glycine

CTC  GAG  Glutamic Acid

**Example:

DNA: TAC-AAA-AGG-ACA-ATC

RNA Codon: AUG-UUU-UCC-UGU-UAG

Protein: METHIONINE-Phenylalanine-Serine-Cysteine-STOP

  1. DNA: ACA-TAC-GGG-TTT-CTC-ATC-AAA

RNA: UGU-AUG-CCC-AAA-GAG-UAG-UUU

Protein:

  1. DNA: AAA-TAC-AAA-ATC

RNA: UUU-AUG-UUU-UAG

Protein:

  1. DNA: CTC-CTC-TAC-AGG-TTT-GAA-ATC-CTC

RNA: GAG-GAG-AUG-UCC-AAA-CUU-UAG-GAG

I’m having difficulty and just need to make sure I’m doing them correctly.
