After World War II, America experienced perhaps the biggest economic expansion in history, America emerged from World War II in 1945 and for two decades the economy went from strength to strength. The G.I. Bill established low cost loans for returning soldiers and this created a boom in the housing industry. By 1965 the situation had become more complex and the government decided to lend a hand. Agency Background The Department of Housing and Urban Development known as (HUD) was established in 1965, created by governmental influence. This program was designed to advocate acceptable and inexpensive housing, financial prospect, and a proper subsisting atmosphere uninhibited by prejudice, while still concentrating on the agency objectives.
