Frankenstein and Darwin, science homework help

Frankenstein and Darwin, science homework help.

In this thread we will turn to a novel that has inspired movies, shows, comics, and…Halloween costumes. But, what do you actually know about Frankenstein—the character, the novel, the author, and the time in which it was created? The book, the character, and figure of Frankenstein within the story, were created at a time when creationism as such was a hot topic. Have you thought about how the creation of a “human being” (if we call Frankenstein a human being) by a scientist (that is the premise of the novel) plays into the discussion of the theory of evolution? What can we learn from studying the effect on a culture by such novel in combination of learning about the findings and theories of culture?

Frankenstein is commonly thought of alternatively as an early science fiction novel and a model of Gothic Fiction. Review the National Library of Medicine’s website: Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature. Evaluate the cultural fear that underlies much of the book. Compare and contrast the cultural response of Frankenstein with that of Darwin’s work on evolution. How does this help explain Darwin’s hesitancy in publishing his own work? Lastly, think of how scientists are portrayed in popular culture today. Is it much different than the way Dr. Frankenstein (a fictional character) and Darwin (a biologist) were portrayed? Please give specific examples to support your point of view.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from this week’s required material(s) and/or other scholarly sources, and properly cite any references.
