The debate assists the speaker in trying to look at a critical issue under consideration in detail and try to present their opinions. The opinion can be supporting or opposing the issue at hand. Irrespective of whether it is optimistic or pessimistic, the end results will be that ideas will have been passed across and every participant will understand the pros and cons of the underlying issue.
In order to win a debate, a speaker must have debate skills. There are numerous skills required when debating but in my own view, I will present the four skills that are mandatory for one to win the debate First is public speaking. This is a process of speaking to participants with the intention of passing information. The manner in which we speak to the audience matters a lot. The speaker must use of language that is understandable, must be clear in passing the message, and must be audible so that it is heard clearly. The second one is critical thinking. This is giving an insight of a subject matter to the audience in order to get the logic behind the subject under review. This usually educates people concerning an idea that is complex or new. The third is organizing. This is a way in which one arranges his ideas to be presented in a chronological manner. The way a speaker articulates his/her points require good organization so that ideas and facts are not mixed. The forth point is listening. This is the art of being attentive. Normally when questions are asked, the speaker must be very a alert and attentive so as to respond to all asked questions without leaving anyone out. Apart from these, there are other skills such as note taking, writing, researching, and building teamwork and people skills
In order to win my own debating skills I will require enhancing my public speaking skills. This will allow me speak boldly in front of the audience and articulate my ideas and facts to the latter. Moreover, critical thinking is another aspect that I need. This will give me an upper hand in giving insight ideas in a logical manner without missing a mark. Additionally, proper organization of my points in a chronological order so as to present them in a sequence. In the same note, listening, note taking, researching, and building teamwork is mandatory in order to give me a hallmark in debate.
